After Us, The Flood has been selected as the opening film of the Avant-garde Film Festival in Croatia

Directed by Arto Halonen and written by Ossi Hakala, After Us, the Flood is competing in the international competition in Novigrad, Croatia. During June, the film will be featured at no less than six international film festivals. At the Fantasy Film Festival held in Paris, After Us, the Flood will also be the festival’s opening film.

Avant-garde & Horror Fantasy Film Festival will be held for the first time from June 5th to 8th. The festival’s core team consists of professionals who have distinguished themselves at major international genre film festivals. In addition to a diverse and high-quality film program, the festival also hosts panel discussions and masterclass workshops for film industry professionals. 

After Us, the Flood has quickly become a favorite on the international festival circuit. In addition to DWF in Los Angeles, the film will be featured in competition at Sci-Fi London; Ravenheart Film Festival in Oslo; Avant-Garde Horror & Fantasy Film Festival in Novigrad, Croatia; and Fantasy Film Festival in Paris, where it will also open the festival. The film will also screen at the Social World Film Festival in Vico Equense – marking its third festival appearance in Italy.

After Us, the Flood is a bold and uncompromising sci-fi drama about human relationships, greed, and the reasons why humanity struggles to stop climate change. The cast includes Elias Westerberg, Linnea Leino, Tuomas Nilsson, Kasperi Kola, Petteri Summanen, Antti Reini, Pihla Penttinen, Jari Salmi, Tobias Zilliacus, Jemina Sillanpää, Robert Enckell, Hannu-Pekka Björkman, Paavo Westerberg, Hugo Komaro, Vilma Sippola, and Andrei Alén.

The film had its world premiere in October 2024 in the Free Spirit Competition section of the renowned Warsaw International Film Festival. It later won the top prize in its category – the Silver Méliès – at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival in Italy. In April, the film captivated critics at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF), one of the world’s leading genre film festivals.
